Gun violence is a rising problem. I think if we register guns, we license gun owners,
we check for criminal records, and we make it harder for people to buy guns, then
we will save countless lives. Of course, even that will not stop people from commuting
gun related felonies, but we can make it just that much harder for them to do so.
Not all gun violence will be prevented but every bit saves lives.
Meriam
My opinion on gun control is that people there are a lot of
people who tend to have gun without getting a background check, and some of
those people are criminals who are going to take innocent lives for no reason.
For some it does not matter if its children or adults who they kill. The reason
being why I tell you this is because this is an ongoing subject that happens
every day around the world. And because people can get their hands on gun very
easily at gun shows or on the black market without having to have a background
check.
Sam
I’m sure that everyone
has many different opinions on gun control, but I’d like to state my own. See, I’m all
for gun control. I’d think that it would slow the death count down each year by
a little. I just think that it won’t do much. I mean, like I’ve said many times before,
people kill with much more than just guns. They kill with bombs,
knifes, even their bare hands. Should we have hand control? No. Now, I know it
sounds like I’m against gun control. I’m just trying to say that it would do
some things, sure. It won’t fix everything, though. I say this mainly because
some people have been acting like it will “solve everything.”
What I am mainly trying to say is that gun control is a good idea, and that it
will help, just not that much. But hey, a little bit is better than nothing.
Thomas
I think limiting how much guns a person can
buy is a good law. I think it is a good law because you can tell someone they
can’t buy a gun but they will just get a gun illegally anyways. I think a good
law is stopping people from selling guns on a website and stopping people from
buying multiple guns because they could just sell them to people who can’t get
guns.
Tommy
I believe that gun control is a serious topic in the United
States and all over the world. I think that it should’ve been a main topic for
many years but it is now the main concern of everyone ever since the tragedy at
the sandy hook school. They should’ve have cut off the law to have background
checks because what if someone has bad criminal records and/or has mental health
problems? These background checks could stop them from causing gun violence.
Even if many believe these ideas won’t work, we could still try to at least make
a small change in our world. Why don’t we stop gun violence? Wouldn’t these
people worry if it was them? I guess people just have their background stories
to their actions. Maybe we should all just think about what we’re about to do
before we regret it all.
Michelle
In my opinion I think guns should not be owned by any citizens,
and that the only people to own guns should be the military and the police.
I worry about guns coming to the
United States from other countries. I do believe that crimes would still be
used with guns and that people could get guns illegally or make their own guns
that can’t be detected using 3-D printers. I think we need better patrols to
make sure guns don’t enter our country. An opinion I have about the
second amendment is, that people needed that amendment at that time to protect
themselves from wild animals and if there was a war at that time, but the
amendment does not mean that anyone can own any type of gun today. I think we need to
regulate who can own guns to make our country safer.
John
My opinion is that the guns should be only used to help our country in the army. I
think that the gangs should stop shooting people and make peace. Other opinions
are that the police should carry a bat not a gun because they can be robbed or
killed for the gun. In England there are stricter gun laws and police don’t
carry guns and there are far fewer gun deaths there.
Joao
Gun control is a big issue in the US. Everywhere there are guns, and people suffer
because of it. Because of lax gun control laws there are shootings and killings.
My opinion is that gun control laws are insufficient although they are getting
better there is still room of gun control laws to improve.
Liam
I think having gun control is very important for our society. It
protects people and students such as myself, from dangerous gunmen who might do
harm. Having stricter gun control laws could protect our community, city and
state from tragedies. I personally think before licensing or handing a gun over,
the person should make sure the person does not have any family members with
mental disorder or criminal background. The reason why I think this is because
it can prevent from a tragedy like Sandy Hook from happening.
Silvia
My opinion on gun control is mainly that only state officials and people in the armed
services should have guns. People who need the guns to protect us should be the only
people with guns. I think the gun violence rates would dramatically drop if only a hand full
of people were allowed to have guns. I think it would also be easier to catch
criminals who used guns to commit their crime, because not as many people would
own guns. But for only those people to own guns are just about impossible
because the second amendment says everyone has the right to own a gun. So this
is where I stand on this whole gun control debate, the fewer guns for civilians the better
Leonora
There's no doubt that gun violence is a huge problem in the United States. It's disturbing to
know that just about anyone can have access to firearms easily by purchasing one
from a shop. For all the right reasons, I think that background checks should be
expanded, and getting a gun license should be tougher. I also feel that citizens
have no business owning a gun and keeping one in their homes. At the same time,
however, I think that even if the government tightens laws it would only affect
law-abiding citizens because no criminal is going to want to follow the law.
Clarah
I think that the guns shouldn’t be taken away, because I know that won’t happen.
But the guns and bullets should cost way more. I think bullets should cost
25 or 50 dollars per bullet. An average hand gun costs around 200-1000 dollars
and I think the prices should be raised by 25% of what it cost. So then there would
be no more innocent bystanders.
Crystal
My opinion about gun control is that it’s not making a difference in gun violence, because
many people are still dying or getting injured with guns. I think they need to
make stricter gun laws and need to close down some gun shops. I also think they
need to get as much guns as they can off the streets and out of the hands of criminals. I think
the only people that should be able to carry guns is the police or the people
that are serving in the army; no one else has a reason to have a gun because if
no one has a gun then you wouldn't need to protect yourself if the only people that
have a gun is the police and the people in the army.
Pedro
My opinion of gun control is that people should stop using guns for killing and gun
violence. People should be taught how to use firearms and they should be
regulated nationally in order to be educated and make the people comprehend that
firearms should be used responsibly. Also I think people who serve in the Army,
Military Force, Navy and police, should have the opportunity to hold a handgun,
because they would use firearms responsible and for protection of themselves or
law abiding citizens. I think, when people want to buy a handgun, there should
be a stricter background checks to make sure if anyone had a criminal record
they would not be able to purchase a gun.
Mario
My opinion on the amount of deaths in the United States during 2011 there were
32,163 deaths resulting from firearms and 73,883 of
non-fatal firearm injuries in 2011. The second amendment states that each rank
of the gun should go to the same rank as the owner person and for that many
people to be injured by a gun means that the owner is not the same rank as the
gun. So I believe that we should increase the training that people go through
and the gun that is given to the owner and should be tested many times before
it goes on sale.
